Ashley Carew                                                                     

Ashley began her career in dance at the early age of two. Over the past twenty five years she has been exposed to, and has taught, a range of styles including Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet, Tap, Modern Theatre, Lyrical, Contemporary, Latin, and Social Dance.

Ashley is an Associate member of The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (Modern Theatre). A graduate from Memorial University, Ashley received a degree in Primary and Elementary Education in December of 2008. Ashley continues to diversify her training by travelling to various workshops and courses throughout North America.

As co-director of The Dance Academy Inc., Ashley aims to give dancers the tools they need to be successful at whatever level of dance they want to achieve, to help dancers find and create new limits with discipline, laughter and, most importantly, love! Whether it’s a dancer aspiring to be professional or a dancer who comes once a week, each one has his or her own personal goals and ambitions- dance is all about having fun and letting your creativity show!

Sara Earles

Sara has been dancing since the age of two and she knew from the start that dance was going to be a huge part of her life.  Sara has completed her Jazz Awards and is currently working on her Associate Modern Theatre examination in modern theatre with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. Sara studies a range of styles including Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Lyrical, Contemporary, Street Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop. Sara also wokrs as a massage therapist at Premier Athletic Therapy.

The 2017-2018 dance season marks her seventh year of assisting at The Dance Academy and her fifth year teaching. Dancing is Sara’s passion and she is very driven to continue to learn more every day. Sara is very excited to share all her love and knowledge for dance with her students!

Alyssa Lucas

Alyssa has been dancing since the age of five and has been movin’ and groovin’ ever since.  She has trained extensively in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Modern Theatre, Lyrical, Acro, Contemporary and Hip Hop. Alyssa is currently a student at Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Alyssa became an assistant teacher in 2008 assisting in various children and teen classes, and in the 2011-2012 dance season began teaching classes on her own. Alyssa strongly believes that dance is for all ages. No matter what age or level a dancer is, they are there to grow and have fun and she hopes to instill her same passion for dance within her students.

In the summer of 2010 Alyssa travelled to Winnipeg to attend the Teachers’ Summer Seminar at Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School – The Art of Teaching. Alyssa has completed her Jazz Awards and is currently working towards her Associate Modern Theatre examination with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.

Lisa MacDonald

Lisa has over thirty years of dance instruction experience with a range of styles including Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet, Modern Theatre, Latin, Pilates, Canadian Step Dance, and Social Dance.

Lisa holds teaching diplomas with The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing in Cecchetti Ballet (Associate Diploma), Modern Theatre, and also holds an Intermediate Tap Certificate. Lisa continues to diversify her training by travelling to various workshops and courses throughout North America.

As co-director of The Dance Academy Inc., Lisa continues to strengthen the solid reputation she has built among parents and students while sharing her knowledge and passion for dance with her students. Her multi-faceted background provides a strong base for quality instruction in a secure, continually expanding and creative environment.

 

Katie Tucker

Katie has grown up in Paradise, NL training at TDA since the age of three. She has trained in various styles including ballet, hip hop, jazz, musical theatre, street jazz, lyrical, modern theatre, and tap. She has accomplished her ISTD modern exams and has done numerous dance workshops with renowned choreographers and instructors to help with her training. Katie is also a proud member of the TDA competitive team which has allowed her to perform competitively and become a mentor for other team member.

Katie has been a teaching assistant since she was 11 years old and began teaching since 2014. She is very excited to be sharing her love and knowledge of dance with her students this year and is dedicated to getting her students to their full potential. She is thrilled to be spending another season sharing her passion for dance as part of the The Dance Academy Faculty!
